Untitled Fable
The moral of this fable is:  Telling lies only delays your downfall.
The fable is:
Once upon a time -- and one time too many -- an untrustworthy king lied to his loyal followers.
The king often told lies. He had always gotten away with telling lies because his followers really liked their king. After a while the king had come to not even care that he was telling lie after lie to his trusting followers.
One day a very bad empire attacked the kingdom of the king. All the king's followers were panicked. They were very afraid. They looked to the king for leadership.
But the king was so terrified for his personal safety that he could not even make up a lie to tell his followers. The king did not answer when his followers called out for help.
When his followers were left to protect themselves, they did well. The king's followers saved the kingdom from the evil attackers without the king's help and without the king's lies.
The people realized that they were better off without a king who tells lies. The people sent away the king who lied to them. They elected an honest leader.
