A Big Battle
Victor, 8, Canada
The moral of my fable isDon’t brag, as others may surpass you.
My fable is:

On a nice rocky path the chirping birds were interrupted by a large man who shouted, "Who can match my strength!!!!!!!"

"I can", said a tall, strong man named Strife.

"So, its you again", said Ace. "I'll beat you!!!!!"

"Ok, let’s fight!!!!!!!!!"

As they dueled next to a small hut, axes made of silver and shiny swords made of gold clanked. With one mighty swing, Ace's armor almost came off!

Ace said in a weak voice, "OK, you win".

Chocolate Chip Cookies
Nick, 10, Arizona
The moral of my fable isDon't believe everything you hear.
My fable is:

One day Frankie picked up a chocolate chip cookie and was about to eat it.

At the same time, his friend George walked into the room and said, "NOOOOOOO, What are you doing???", and smacked it out of his hand.

George then asked Frankie if he had ever tasted a chocolate chip cookie. "No", said Frankie. George told him that it was the nastiest thing ever. So Frankie made sure he did not eat the chocolate chip cookie.

Two weeks later there was nothing left in Frankie's house but a chocolate chip cookie. So Frankie convinced himself to try it and he loved it! So then he shouted out to the sky, "I LOVE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!"

The Wart Hog And The Snake
Alise, 9, England
The moral of my fable is:  Be happy with what you have.
My fable is:

One day a wart hog saw a snake with a huge pile of food. That pile of food was a little bit bigger than the wart hog's.

The wart hog loved food so, so, so much he believed it would be alright to steal it.

Because the snake could swallow a big amount at once, she ate all her food in one go before the wart hog could get a sniff of her food.

Then the wart hog looked back at his own food only to see that a group of lions had already eaten all of his food. The greedy wart hog had no food to eat for that whole day.

And after that day the wart hog never stole food from anyone for his whole life because he knew what could happen to him.

One Little Girl
Monica, 8, North Carolina
The moral of my fable isJust because you're different, it doesn't mean other should call you names.
My fable is:

Once there was a little girl who was different than the rest of the kids at school.

When her parents dropped her off at school, everybody called her names just because she liked lima beans.

Only one person at school did not call her names. When they became friends everybody wanted to be her friend.

The Mouse And The Snake
Zoe, 10, Alberta
The moral of my fable isDo a bad thing, something bad will happen to you.
My fable is:

One cold winter day, there was a snake slithering through the snow-covered grass. The snake was cold and slithering so much was the only thing that would keep him warm.

"Slither, slither, slither, slither", he would say to himself. Soon he realized he was very hungry and he found a mouse nibbling on a seed.

"Oh Mouse?", called the snake. "I need your help climbing a tree which apples grow on. You see, it is thin and if I climb it, it will collapse under my weight. Will you climb it for me?"

The mouse, fearing the snake would eat him if he said no, said "Yes".

When they got to the tree, the mouse immediately started climbing. When the mouse was high above the snakes head, the snake shook the tree. The mouse fell and the snake quickly devoured him.

The snake continued slithering. But soon after he started, he stopped, for he was to bloated from the mouse to continue.

Soon, the snake died from the cold because the mouse prevented him from continuing to slither.
