The Lion And Baby Kitten
Surayaa, 11, New York
The moral of my fable is:  Sometimes a small thing can be just as good as big thing.
My fable is:

One day in the forest there lived a lion named Shawn and a baby kitten named Zack.

The lion was walking to the park when he felt something on his foot. He looked down and saw a baby kitten.

The baby kitten told the lion that he was sorry. The next day the lion said to the baby kitten, "I don't like you because you are ugly and black".

The baby kitten went home crying. The baby cat told the lion that he is white. And then the lion also went home crying.

They both had problems because they were unhappy about what had happened. They went to the park again another day to apologize to each other.

They met and apologized. They became friends.

They started to play all kinds of games, including  tag. And they played other games that I can't recall.

The Monkey And The Vulture
Kayla, 10, Texas
The moral of my fable isDon't believe everything you hear.
My fable is:

A long time ago there was a monkey who had a baby. The monkey read online that baby monkeys can feed on their own fat til' they are fully grown.

So she didn't feed her baby.

Days passed and the baby became sick and weak.

Then the monkey met a vulture who always sat on the same tree as the baby. The vulture told the monkey, "Soon your baby will die".

The next day the baby was more sick and weaker. The mother monkey figured out that she must feed her baby. Within hours, the baby started to get healthy and strong.

The monkey's sister said, "That is why you shouldn't believe everything you hear. When ever you hear something, ask if it makes sense before you accept it as fact".

Freddy started talking to Kitty too. Doggy burst in and said to Kitty, “I am talking right now!” Kitty said, “alright”.

Doggy started talking again to Freddy. Kitty waited until it was his turn. When Doggy was done Kitty started talking to Freddy. Kitty learned to listen to other people when they are talking!

The Horse
Megan, 8, Edgewood, New Mexico
The moral of my fable isIf someone hurts you, don’t hurt them back.
My fable is:

One day, a horse was at a park taking a walk while a few dogs were playing baseball.

The dog that was batting hit the ball. The ball went far and it hit the back of the horse’s head.

The horse turned around, grabbed the ball, and threw it at the batter.

The next day, the dog that was the batter had to go to the hospital because when the horse threw the ball really hard, it hit the dog’s arm and broke it.

That made the horse fell really bad. After that day, the horse learned that if someone hurts you don’t hurt them back.

King Of The Beasts
James, 11, Germany
The moral of my fable isIf little, stay little. If big, stay big.
My fable is:

Once there was a lion and a tiger. The lion was heroic, humble, and a leader. His name was Leo.

But the tiger, who was mean, selfish, and JEALOUS of Leo, was named Nero.

When Leo's father died, Leo ruled all animals in Africa. All animals respected Leo because he was king and he took his responsibilities, as a king, seriously.

But tigers never had much respect for Leo and never liked him. "Why is it always a lion that's King of the Beasts?" said Nero in jealousy. "Well," said his brother Felix, "they have looks, strength, and power."

Then Nero said, "Well I'll prove tigers are the best. I'm tired of being the lower level." That's when Nero decided to challenge Leo to see who would be King of the Beasts.

"LEO!", yelled Nero, "I challenge you to a fight! Winner is King of the Beasts, FOREVER, and the loser gets nothing!"

"Are you sure?" said Leo, "You should never underestimate the power a lion can hold within it." "Yes, I'm sure!", Nero replied.

As soon as the fight began Nero started to claw at Leo with all his speed and might. Leo kept dodging without trying! Only a few times did Nero hit Leo but it didn't do much damage. Up until... "AAAARGGGHHHH!" Nero was the one being injured at Leo's attacks.

Nero nearly died until he gave in. Leo won. "What happened?", Nero whined, "How could I have LOST?!" Then Leo said, "I told you to never underestimate the power of a lion. I hope you learned a valuable lesson today, one you will remember for a long time, one that you will... "OK! I get it! Now stop the boring speech and help me home", Nero interrupted. "Fine", Leo said.

It was the day of the big race. The grasshopper was 3 laps in front of the snail. He took a long nap, but the snail caught up to him.

Then the grasshopper woke up. The snail was at the finish line. Then the grasshopper got up and started to hop as fast as he could, but by the time he got there the snail…. WON!!

The grasshopper was so mad. Then he learned never to brag again.

Alyssa, 9, New Mexico, USA
The moral of my fable isNever be mean to others.
My fable is:

Once upon a time there was a fox that was always mean to others and there was a duck that was always nice to others.

The duck had a bunch of friends.

One afternoon the duck and the fox bumped into each other and they got lost. When the duck called for help she started to walk and she bumped her friends.

Then the fox ran away somewhere else. Even the duck's friends ran away -- including the duck.

Next the fox looked at the other side of the road and somebody was coming. And they bumped heads. The fox was nice to him so they are friends. He learned also that being nice to others is good because then he can become friends with them.
