The Judging Cat
Tanja, 9, North Carolina
The moral of my fable isYou should not judge people by their appearance.
My fable is:

Once upon a time there was a cat named Grace and a dog named Manny.

Grace said, "You are so ugly with white fur. I look nice because I have black fur. I hate you."

Manny said, "I'm a good person. You should not judge me like that".

Later that day Grace got a thorn in her paw. Manny helped her get it out. Grace said that she was sorry about judging Manny that way. They became friends.

Jasmine And Jasper
Sydney, 10, North Carolina
The moral of my fable is:  Slow and steady wins the race.
My fable is:

Once upon a time a horse named Jasmine challenged her brother Jasper to a race. Jasper said okay because he believed in himself. But Jasmine didn't have confidence in her brother.

Jasmine was the fastest horse around.

Later that afternoon Jasmine and Jasper went to the meadow. All the animals were there. "On your mark, get set, gallop".

During the race Jasmine got tired so she stopped at the nearest lemonade stand.

Jasper kept running even though he was tired. Jasper won the race. As people learn from experience they know that slow and steady can help win the race.

Samantha, 10, North Carolina
The moral of my fable is:  Honesty is the best policy.
My fable is:

One day I got a new hamster. I set him down in the cage with the other two hampsters.

"Where did you come from", exclaimed the 1st hampster. "Yeah", added the 2nd hamster".

"I, I, I"...he sputtered. If I tell them I was put in here they'll think I'm plain and simple.

The new hamster deliberated to himself. "I, I, I, I flew in here. I, I, I, I'm from the circus. Yeah that's it. I'm from the circus", he stammered.

"Cool" said the 2nd hamster. "I don't believe you", the 1st hamster accused. "He has a point", said the 2nd hamster. "We don't trust you anymore", the two hamsters said.

"I'm terribly sorry for lying, but I thought you would think I'm just a plain, dull, old hamster".

"We'll be your friend. We would have accepted you as you were". "O.K., I promise not to tell another lie". The three hamsters lived happily ever after.

Sharon, 10, North Carolina
The moral of my fable isDon't judge people by their size.

Then she saw a Chipmunk named Squeakett. Squeakett was very tiny. So Ally went to talk to her and said, "I bet you can't hit the ball and make a homerun and strike me out when you pitch". Squeakett said that she agreed to the bet.

In the last inning Squeakett hit the ball and got a homerun. When it was time to switch Squeakett struck Ally out.

At the end of the game Squeakett's team won and Squeakett won the bet so Cole the bear said that Ally had to buy candy bars for the winning team members.

Moxy can get three. "Uh, that is totally not fair". "Mom, it is all your fault. You never give me enough money", said Roxy.

"I will talk to you when we get back home", said mom Foxy.

Thirty minutes later, back at the cave, "Moxy please go outside to play", said Foxy.

"O.K", said Moxy. Roxy and Foxy talked. A few minutes later Roxy realized that Foxy was right. They made up. Roxy and Foxy never had another fight.
