The Wolf and the Two Chickens
Stephanie, 11, Rochester, New York
The moral of my fable isDon't bite the hand that feeds you.
My fable is:

One day a gray wolf named Rachel was wandering the woods. She was weak after traveling across the mountains. Mountain lions had attacked her and stole her only food. She also had injuries.

Then she came upon a log cabin. She hoped someone would be there. Rachel howled and two chickens answered the door. "Why hello", said one chicken. "Oh dear, this wolf needs some help!", said the other chicken, looking at Rachel's injuries. They brought her into the cabin.

Months passed and Rachel's injuries healed. But yet she stayed. "More hot cocoa! More blankets! Hurry up, NOW!!", Rachel screamed shrilly.

"NO!", said the two chickens, "We're TIRED of serving YOU!"

The spoiled wolf growled. "FINE!! I'll take care of MYSELF!!" Rachel stomped out of the cabin and met some familiar mountain lions at the door. "We invited a few 'friends' you told us about, Rachel", muttered one chicken to the gray wolf. The mountain lions growled fiercely at Rachel. "H...hi..." said Rachel nervously".

The chickens locked the door before Rachel could get a chance to get back in. Rachel quickly realized she should have treated the chickens much kinder.
