The Bird And The Caterpillar |
|
Anjali, 8, North
Carolina |
| The
moral of my fable is: Don't let flattery
get the best of you. |
| My
fable is: One day Bird
swooped down to find a caterpillar in a tree. "Hello, Mr. Caterpillar!"
Caterpillar grumbled for Bird was
always a real pain. "You look very pretty today! Your colors are shining
more! Have you been eating those color pills I gave you? You look so
beautiful!!!!", Bird squawked.
Caterpillar was very flattered by
this because Bird almost NEVER complimented
him! "Why, how about you take a good little nap while I get you some
more color pills?", asked Bird.
Caterpillar thought that was a good
idea. As he drifted off to sleep, Bird flew to the branch where
Caterpillar was sleeping. He grabbed him in
his claws and ate him up. |

The Big Shot |
|
Sam, 10, Indiana |
| The
moral of my fable is: Never be too
confident! |
| My
fable is: At Jackson Middle
School there was a kid who was best at everything. His name was Bob. Bob
was especially good at basketball.
Then there was
Ted, who couldn't hit a shot for his life.
One day Bob challenged Ted to a one-on-one
game for ten points.
Bob was up 7 to 0, but Ted kept
fighting. When Bob had the ball, he could win with one more shot. He got
too confident and then Bob
scored to make the game tied at 7-7.
When Bob got too confident again, he
missed. Ted didn't get overly confident -- and
he scored and won! |

The Fly And The Frog |
|
Sabrina, 8, North
Carolina |
| The
moral of my fable is: Don't do anything
someone tells you to do if they want you to do something bad...
even if it is a friend, don't do it. |
| My
fable is: One morning in a
swamp there was a frog who saw a fly buzzing by.
"Hey fly",
he said coughing, "I think I have another frog
stuck in my throat. Could you go get a match and kill yourself?"
"Sure", the
fly said. So he got a lighter and killed himself.
"Ahhhh, now I can eat you."
So he did. So now the other flies did not do anything like that again.
They all felt sorry for the fly that got eaten. |

The Peacock And The Monkey |
|
Anjali, 8, North
Carolina |
| The
moral of my fable is: Being pretty is
nice, but having strength, brains, and fun is what is important. Also,
you may not be as important as you think. |
| My
fable is: There was once a
peacock who thought she was the prettiest of all creatures. This was
true, but not important. She also thought she was most important. The
peacock's name was Rainbow, which she thought
was the best name for her.
One day, the jay bird Jaxxon said that
there would be a race to see who has the most strength and speed.
At the start,
Rainbow was not warming up like the other animals. A monkey named
Bananas was so eager to win.
When the race began, Rainbow was slow,
and checked every fiive seconds to proudly
puff out her tail.
When the race was over Bananas was the
winner.
Jaxxon gave him a crown, and was
declared the most important creature in the jungle. Rainbow was furious,
but she had to live with the fact that she was not as important as she
thought. |

The Phoenix And The Griffin |
|
Sophie, 9, North
Carolina |
| The
moral of my fable is: Beauty is on the
outside, but true beauty lies within. |
| My
fable is: Once long ago,
there lived a phoenix. He was the greatest and most beautiful in all of
Sapphire Island. Though he was beautiful, he bragged too much about it.
His people where miserable, but they dare not tell him for he would
destroy them on the spot!
One day, a griffin came in search of
shelter for the long winter when he came upon the phoenix
admiring himself in front of his mirror.
"Hello! Who are you?" he said to the
phoenix. "I am the greatest most precious bird
in the world!" was the reply.
When the phoenix heard that the
griffin had never heard of him, he got so mad, that he made the griffin
his servant. He only paid food, while the griffin secretly sold the food
to the poor. When the phoenix found out, he ordered the griffin to be
killed. "You are not worthy. You shall be
killed", was the griffin's reply.
And the phoenix was gone! |
