The Untidy Town
Josie, 8, North Carolina
The moral of my fable is:  Cleaning is important.
My fable is:

Long ago there was a city called Dirtyopolis where no one cleaned at all.

One day an old tidy wood cutter came to town and said, "This is disgusting. I'll teach them a lesson".

So he gathered trash and piled it around people's houses and made a speech. He said, "You see what you've done. You'll soon be living in your own filth. So clean it up".

The Cat And The Dog
Kayvia, 9, Morrisville, North Carolina
The moral of my fable isBe nice to others.
My fable is:

Once there was a cat and a dog that always would fuss and fight.

But one day the window was open so the dog and cat stopped fighting. They stopped because they had heard of a cat and dog who had been fighting close to an open window, fell out, and got hurt.

They did not want that to happen to them so they never would fight close to an open window or any window period.

So they never fought again because when that almost happened to them it made them think about dumb so much fighting was.

So he said, "Since you asked so nicely I will stop". So that day the bee and the grasshopper became best friends.

The Dog And The Cat
Cole, 9, Texas
The moral of my fable isThink before you act.
My fable is:

Once there was a dog and a cat. The dog liked to chase the cat.

One day the cat got an idea. While the dog was chasing the cat, it ran up a tree.

The dog tried to go up the tree, but hit its head instead.

It shook the tree so hard that the cat fell out of the tree. The dog caught the cat.

The Dragon And The Dwarf
Sophie, 9, North Carolina
The moral of my fable isIf there is something you really want, give it to somebody who needs it more.
My fable is:

Once there was a dragon named Treasureking. His lair was filled with treasure! One day he saw a dwarf digging for gold. "Can I have some of your wondrous treasure?", the dragon asked.

"Sure, but is there someone who might need it more than you?", the dwarf replied.

Treasureking thought of the poor Pegasus family across the woods. "No", he said. He took the gold home. But when he took it out of his pocket, all the gold had turned to stones, but the Pegasus family was rich!

The Late Project
Anjali, 8, North Carolina
The moral of my fable isDo your work before you play and do the right thing, not what other people do.
My fable is:

There was once a dragon named Moon. Moon went to the Solar Academy for Fantasy Creatures.

One day his teacher told the Star class that they would have a project due at the end of the week. He got paired up with a unicorn named Lilac. Lilac came over to Star's house to work on the project. But Star insisted upon going to play in the park.

Even though Lilac knew that was a wrong choice, she followed him. So they never finished their project.

When the end of the week came, Star felt so sure they would get a good grade because he thought that Lilac was doing all the work. When it was their turn, they did not have anything to share! They both got in trouble and promised never again to make fools out of themselves.
