The Fox And The Bobcat |
|
Alexis, 15, Illinois |
| The
moral of my fable is: If you have
courage when you face danger, you may make
friends out of enemies. |
| My
fable is: One spring day a
Fox was running through the forest when he came across a bobcat in a
hunter's trap. "Help me Sir Fox", called
Bobcat. "My paw is stuck in this trap!"
"I am sorry",
replied the Fox. "I am so sorry Bobcat. I cannot for
the hunters and their dogs will catch me. I can already hear them
coming!"
"Please, oh please",
begged Bobcat, but Fox continued running towards the river. Feeling
quite badly, Fox slowed and turned around, and went
back to help Bobcat. Fox worked quickly and released Bobcat's paw
from the trap.
Just then, they saw the heads of the
hunter's dogs coming over the hill. "Quick", said Bobcat,
"Give me a hug so your scent is on me". Fox
hugged Bobcat. "Now run down and cross the river and hide",
instructed Bobcat.
As Fox ran to the river, Bobcat
climbed a tree in the opposite direction of the river. The hunter's dogs
sniffed and followed the Fox's scent to where Bobcat was high up in the
tree. As the dogs jumped and bayed at the base of the tree, Bobcat waved
to Fox, who had crossed the river and was running safely on his way. |

what comes tomorrow. |

"I'm going to study when we get home".
The older sister
laughed. "I already know everything that's gonna be on that test.
It's so easy!", she laughed again. "I'm
still studying and you don't even know what is going to be on it!".
The next day the younger one passed
with a 100%, while the other one failed with a
5%. "You see", the
younger one said at recess, "You should have studied last night and you
wouldn't have failed, now would you?". |

Anjali, 8, North

| The
moral of my fable is: Do not choose a
friend by how they look, but instead by how
they act. |
| My
fable is: There was once a
girl named Alexa. She saw a new girl at school who
looked very nice and pretty. Alexa walked over to her, and said, "Hi. I

Alexa and Casey quickly became good
friends.
One day Casey said to Alexa,
"Hey, go steal that little boys ice-cream cone".
Alexa listened to her, fearing about what would happen to her if she did
not.
After stealing the
ice cream cone, Alexa felt bad about what she did. She wondered
if Casey was really her friend. A few days later, she told Casey, "I did
not like what you made me do. I don't want to be your friend".
After that, Casey learned her lesson.
