Engulfed in Pride
Alexandria, 13, Pennsylvania
The moral of my fable isOnly by swallowing your pride and admitting your mistakes, might you hope to move on.
My fable is:

It is the middle of the night, in the middle of the countryside, through which the road runs. A horse is coming down the road and he meets a bear.

"It seems as if a storm is brewing. We do not have long", the wise horse warned.

"You fool, I see no storm whatsoever. Must you fetch your glasses", the pig-headed bear teased.

All of a sudden, a storm breaks out with huge displays of lightning, thunder, and rain. The thunder boomed and broke the silence of the pitch-black night. The lightning attacked the land and lit up the forest. The rain showed no mercy and soaked everything in its grasp. There was beauty and disaster, glory and terror, as the thunder cracked and the lightning replied.

"We must be on our way, leave at once! I warned you and you ignored me, now look at the price which we both must pay", cried the horse.

"I remember no such thing! And what is a small breeze or a light drizzle to someone as strong as I? Go, scurry away like a coward, but I shall remain, for I am a warrior!", replied the bear.

"Oh, please Mighty Bear, let us leave this place. No one will hold this against you", the horse exclaimed.

But the stubborn bear simply turned and embraced the storm. Sighing, the horse galloped off to a safe distance while the poor bear, who had too much pride and could not admit his mistake, was struck by lightning.
