The Lion And The Deer
Keely, 9, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA
The moral of my fable isDon’t make fun of other people.
My fable is:

Once there was a deer and a lion. The lion was very hungry that day when he said, “I want a fat deer”.

So the lion went to find a doe. Once the doe saw the lion, she ran and ran. The lion got dizzy and tired. Then the deer made fun of him.

That night the lion was very hungry and he said, "Tomorrow I will catch that doe.”

So the next morning when the deer woke up, the lion ran to him and chased him down. The deer learned his lesson not to make fun of other animals.

A Wolf Without A Tail
Shelesha, 12, Tucson, Arizona, USA
The moral of my fable isDon't tell a lie.
My fable is:

Once open a time there was a wolf. One day he was roaming along in a big forest. Suddenly he was caught in a trap.

He was able to get out of the trap, but he lost his tail.

Without a tail, he felt ashamed of appearing in front of his friends. He thought of a plan to appear respectable in front of his friends.

He said that the wolves in other places do not have tails. He added that it was fashionable not to have a tail. So he had cut off his tail.

The other wolves did not believe in him. They simply laughed and made joke at him. They refused to cut off their tails.

The wolf felt sad as his trick failed.

The moral of my fable isNever put off till tomorrow what you can do today.
My fable is:

Orange red Reddy, a baby fox, was starving. She went over to a clear, sparkling stream. On the other side of the stream she saw scrumptious, delicious food.

She thought, "But I don't want to cross this stream. It could be dangerous". Reddy never crossed the stream and soon died of starvation.

Procrastination
Monique, 10, Idaho
The moral of my fable isNever put off for till tomorrow what you can do today.
My fable is:

Once there was a small boy who was assigned a book report. He didn't want to do it. All he wanted to do was watch TV.

His mom told him to do it and his older sister told him to do it. He loathed school, so he never paid attention. He ignored his mom and sister and he kept on watching cartoons.

A long time went by and the book report was due. The next week he said, "I'll do my book report tomorrow", but he didn't do it.

The weekend went by and the report was due the coming week.

He panicked and finally the book report was due. When he didn't have it, he got in so much trouble.

Eeks!
Jordan, 10, Idaho
The moral of my fable isNever spend your money before you have it.
My fable is:

Deep down in a mouse village, Pa worked at an old store. He had a beautiful wife and a little boy named Greg.

"We are out of food", squeaked Ma. Pa said, "I haven't received my check yet". "If we get in debt, you can pay once you get your check", Ma said.

Pa arrived at the store twenty minutes later and said, "Here we are".

Pa entered through the old, heavy, solid oak door. He bought lots of yummy, delicious food for a total of 50 mousels (mouse money). Pa heaped the meals in his navy blue car and drove home.

When he got home the phone rang, "Ring, ring!" and Pa picked up the phone. "Hello. Who is this?" squeaked Pa.

"It's your insurance company", some mouse on the other line said. "We just found out that you are in debt and we need you to pay the debt off", he squeaked.

"Okay", Pa said and did a little sigh.

My check should be in the mail today. Pa thought. So, he went out to his mailbox. All Pa found was one letter. It read: Sorry, we can't pay you this month. Signed, Your Boss.

Pa frowned and said, "That means we're in mammoth trouble!"

Ashes And The Girl

The moral of my fable isNever tell a lie.
My fable is:

Once there was a very, very nice Witch named Ashes. She was always nice to people in her village and gave them her famous Moose Cookies to eat.

One day there was a new girl who was snobby and only cared about her looks. No one liked her that much.

When Ashes was in town getting some chocolate, the new girl noticed ashes and made fun of her because she was very ugly and old.

Ashes got so angry that she used her powers to turn her into a nasty old toad and said until you can control your actions toward other people you will stay like this. Control your actions or will stay this way for the rest of your Life!

Bamboo Trick
Amy, 10, Pennsylvania, U. S. A
The moral of my fable is:  Don't lie to get something you want.
My fable is:

Once there was a panda who loved to eat bamboo. He had loved bamboo so much that he had eaten every piece of bamboo in the forest.

He traveled to another forest to get bamboo. He met another panda who had a bunch of bamboo beside him.

The first panda tried to trick the other into giving him the bamboo. He flattered the other panda by saying that he had such soft fur and that his eyes were a nice shade of blue.

The other panda knew what he was up to. The panda was starving because he loved bamboo so much that all he ate was bamboo. Later the panda got sick from not eating any healthy foods.
