Jumping Contest : Rabbit vs. Turtle!
Saleha, 9, Illinois
The moral of my fable is:  Just because you think you are better, it doesn't mean that you are better.
My fable is:

A rabbit met a heavy turtle. ''Turtle, you cannot jump as high as me!'' Rabbit laughed.

''Yeah right. With a bit of courage I could beat you big time! I'll challenge you to a jumping contest next to that tree.''

Rabbit laughed again. He hopped over to that tree.

Ready, steady, GO!'' Yelled Rabbit.

Rabbit jumped 2 yards in the air. ''Bet you can't beat me.'' ''Yes I can!'' said Turtle.

When Rabbit turned away for a few seconds, Turtle saw a branch near the ground that was connected to the tree. Turtle climbed up on it then jumped with all his might.

Rabbit turned around to see Turtle jump higher than him. Turtle landed on the ground. ''I told you I could beat you. Just because you think you are better doesn't mean you are better.''

Turtle happily walked away.

No One Is Perfect
Aschalw, 9, Chicago
The moral of my fable is:  One person isn't better than the other.
My fable is:

There were two kids, a boy and a girl. They thought they were perfect except against rich and famous people.

When a person was in trouble, they laughed at him.

They didn't even play ball because they didn't want to get dirty.

Even on pajama day they wore normal clothes.

One day a famous and rich person came to their school. He told everyone that no one is perfect. At the same time the boy and girl made a mistake.

The Best Race In The World

They both practiced and raced each other. They worked and trained everyday. And they pushed each other hard to make sure they were each in their best form.

They got money and a lot of satisfaction in having trained together and won together.

The Sun And Rain
Jamie, 15, USA
The moral of my fable is:  United we stand, together we fall.

My fable is:

One day the Sun did not shine and Rain did not fall from the clouds. Tree, who was a close friend to both Sun and Rain wondered what had happened.

Just as Tree was about to ask Sun why he wasn't high in the sky, Wind appeared.

Tree was thankful for a breeze that Wind gave but also knew it was to gentle a breeze for wind. "Wind, what is the matter with Sun?" Tree asked with worry in her voice.

Wind sighed, "I had hoped you already knew about the conflict between Sun and Rain". Tree waited for Wind to finish the tale. "Rain asked if she could start the tears of all clouds but Sun did not agree with her and said that he wanted to shine a few days more". Wind said in a lazy voice, "Of course Rain did not agree with the thought, so now neither are doing their jobs".

Tree was shocked at such news.

Sun and Rain did not fight. Tree needed the water Rain provided and Tree needed the light Sun provided, as well.

It was many days before Tree finally talked with Sun. "Sun, my dear friend, why don't you apologize to Rain", Tree suggested to Sun.

"I do not want to speak with Rain", Sun said softly to Tree. "Perhaps you did not notice that I need both water and light in order to live", Tree said to Sun.

Sun agreed to speak to Rain that night.

The following morning Tree was awakened to rainfall. "Oh, thank you, Rain. I do not know what I'd do without you", exclaimed Tree.

"Well, that is not true Tree. You do know what would happen to you without me", Rain laughed.

Tree knew that his friends learned a lesson.
