moral of my fable is: Use your brain
before you do things. |
| My
fable is:
One fine Summer day there was a dog named
Cinder watching birds in the sky.
Cinder said,
"I wish I could fly".
Then all of a sudden he saw a very
unusual creature. It had wings and was half
Lion and half Eagle. "Hey, come down whatever
you are!" said Cinder.
When it flew
down to him, "What do you call yourself?",
Cinder asked.
We are called Griffins. said the
Griffin. And then he flew into the sky.
Then Cinder had a idea.
He cut out cardboard wings and taped
them on. He climbed on his owner's
house and jumped! "AHHHH!!!",
said Cinder...

The Polar
Bear And The
Salmon |
|
Teresa, 9, Alberta |
| The
moral of my fable is: An act of kindness
is never wasted. |
| My
fable is:
One day, a polar bear went to the ice
covered lake to get a drink and she realized
she was also very hungry.
There was a hole in the ice where she
drank from. She decided she'd go fishing. She noticed a large chubby
salmon! The salmon was so chubby that she thought to herself,
"Perfect for my hungry tummy!"
She walked very quietly and then
sprung to catch this big salmon! She caught him!!
The salmon cried,
''Please don't eat me! I will save you if you need help! I promise!!"
The polar bear thought this over. ''I
guess I'll let you go", she
said. She then walked away muttering under her
breath.
A few days later the polar bear
decided to go fishing again. She didn't notice the hunter pointing his
gun at her. To get a closer target, the hunter stepped onto the ice. The
salmon saw the hunter and smashed the ice making the hunter fall into
the cold water.
The polar bear ran away. |

Bob And Tommy |
|
Katie, 10 |
| The
moral of my fable is: Slow and steady
wins the race. |
| My
fable is:
One sunny day nearby the old oak tree, the
animals gathered to hear Bob the Hare boast about how much better he was
at running than the other animals .
The animals yawned as Bob carried on
about how fantastic he was. "I have been challenged two-hundred-and-ninety-nine
times and yet no other animal has even been close to winning
over me", Bob the
Hare bragged.
As Bob was telling the other animals
his stories, Tommy the young tortoise, plodded
towards the Hare. Tommy was fed up with Bob the
Hare constantly boasting. He decided to challenge him to a race. "Which
unlucky animal today would like to race against me in my special three
hundredth race?" snorted the Hare....
"I challenge you to your special race",
replied the tiny Tortoise. "Who said that?" shouted the Hare. "Down
here, it's Tommy the tiny Tortoise", he exclaimed.
"That's the funniest thing I have ever
heard", laughed Bob the
Hare with a smirk on his sly face. "I accept!" "Good luck," the
tortoise said politely.
"Ah ah, me luck, I don't need luck.
Just meet me on Foxes Hill at midday. tomorrow".
The next day came and the clock struck
twelve. All the animals gathered as the Hare and the Tortoise got into
position. The fox blew the whistle and the race began.
The Hare shot off like lightening as
the Tortoise plodded over the hill. The Hare
turned around and saw the tortoise was no where to be seen. The Hare was
hot and sat under a tree in the cool shade. He was very tired and
decided he had time for sleep.
The Tortoise eventually caught up with
the Hare and tiptoed past. Slow and steady wins the race he told
himself.
The Hare woke up and saw the Tortoise
was only seconds away from winning his special race. The Hare was
worried and ran for his life. No matter how fast he ran,
the Tortoise was over the winning line first.
"Hooray, Hooray",
the animals cheered. The Hare asked the Tortoise how he had won his
special race. The tortoise explained that you do not have to be fast or
big and tall. Slow and steady can win the race. |

The Snake’s Vine And The Little Monkey |
|
Kaitie, 11, USA |
| The
moral of my fable is: If it feels wrong
inside, it is good for no one. |
| My
fable is:
Long ago, there was a snake called Vine.
Why? He loved to hang around on his favorite vine all day long! He would
wait on that vine for food to come. He especially loved monkeys.
There was also a little monkey in that
vast, green jungle. He loved to swing on vines all day long. His mom
always told him to watch for snakes. But the little monkey didn’t care.
He kept swinging, not having the slightest worry.
One day, while Vine was waiting for
something to come along, the little monkey was swinging through the
forest. When he got to the vine Vine the Snake was sitting on, he
stopped.
Something about that vine didn’t make
him feel good. “What could possibly be wrong with that vine that would
make me so scared inside?”, the little monkey
wondered. Then he tried to talk himself out of it. “What is wrong with a
vine? It’s not a snake”, the little monkey
said out loud. “What’s the worst that could
happen?”
The little monkey took one more look
and swung onto the vine. Then the little monkey saw Vine. The little
monkey screamed as Vine lunged for him. The little monkey got out just
in time!
Then the little monkey stayed far away
from Vine and his vine for the rest of his life. |
