The Tortoise And The Leopard

Alexandra, 10, United Kingdom

The moral is:  Practice makes perfect.
My fable is:

Once there was a Tortoise who was just plodding along the sandy beach when he saw a sign. It read, "beach race here tomorrow".

There was a list of names he read aloud: "Zebra, Giraffe" etc. But at the end of the list he read "Leopard". Underneath it there was a sign from Leopard and it said, "I bet no one can beat me".

So the very same day Tortoise paid Leopard a visit. Tortoise knocked on the door and eventually Leopard came to the door and said, "Hello little fellow. Can I help you with something?"

Tortoise said, "Yes. Actually, I will race you tomorrow". Leopard said "OK" sniggering with laughter.

So tortoise started walking toward the gym, whilst Leopard phoned up to buy a Pizza.

After about an hour Tortoise reached the gym and started on the running machine. He spent the whole afternoon practicing for the race tomorrow. Eventually Tortoise left the gym to go to sleep.

Tortoise woke up and just plodded to the race there he saw Leopard waiting at the starting line. Tortoise did not realize just what he had got himself into. So he joined him and the whistle went and Tortoise shot like a bullet of the starting line. So did Leopard.

But Leopard could not run as fast as normal so Tortoise was at least half way around the track while Leopard was at least 100 miles behind Tortoise.

But in the end Tortoise won and he walked back to where Leopard had fallen and said "Practice makes Perfect".

After 10 games the pig had lost all of his winnings plus £50 of his own money.
